The Wynne (also Wyn, Winn, Wynn and Gwynn) family comes from the Kings and Princes of Wales. The name means "white or fair."
The Wynne family was
among the earliest settlers in Virginia and took a prominent role here.
The first arrival is believed to be Cpt. Peter Wynne of England who arrived
in Jamestown in 1608 aboard the "Mary and Margaret" under Cpt. Christopher
Newport. He died a year later of "the fever."
